Migration
The migration from the old Sort and Filter functionality to the new approach in version 8.0 happens automatically during the system update. When the system is upgraded, all previously created and saved filter views are migrated automatically. The process works as follows:
Most of the data from existing filters is successfully migrated, including:
-
The name of each filter
-
Access definitions (private, public, or restricted)
-
Most filter criteria
However, there are some limitations and exceptions where certain data cannot be migrated:
-
More than two groupings: If a filter had more than two groupings defined, only the first two will be kept, and any additional groupings will be deleted.
-
"Leafs" filter criteria: Any filter criteria of type "leafs" will be deleted during migration.
-
Exceeding maximum criteria: If a filter contains more criteria than the new maximum allows, only the first set of values will be migrated, and excess criteria will be deleted.
In the event of migration issues, the system issues a notification to the user. Users have the option to download a detailed migration log for each affected filter. This log contains information regarding the alterations or deletions that occurred during the migration process.
The migration also ensures backward compatibility with deep links. If users have created deep links to specific filter views outside the system, these links will continue to work after the update. The system automatically redirects users to the right filter view and translates old filter criteria to the new functionality.
This automated migration approach streamlines the transition process and ensures continuity for users while informing them of any necessary adjustments that were made during the upgrade process.
